Lofoten Islands Take Over is an itinerary of 8 days that will take you to explore this paradise above the Arctic Circle. The impressive views offered by the islands in winter including the Northern lights, marine life and the activities offered at this time of the year, make this tour a unique and unforgettable experience. Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to the accommodation, delicous first welcome dinner. After darkness we start to chase the Northern Lights.
Day 2: After breakfast we start our first exploration with visiting the main towns of the north of Lofoten; Svolvear and Henningsvaer. One of the largest fishing villages in Lofoten. In Svolvear, you will find a variaty of small galleries, shops and restaurants. Also the world famous Svolveargeita mountain which is a popular challenge for climbers. Henningsvear is known as the Venice of Lofoten because of the artistic vibes.
During the tour we will do a snowshoe hike to find some of the most beautiful views of Svolvear, Kabelvag and Henningsvear. Then return to our accommodation where we can enjoy a well-deserved dinner before leaving again for the Northern Lights hunt.
Day 3: After our breakfast we will continue to discover Lofoten. This time heading south to visit the Nusfjord, the beaches of Flakstad, Ramberg and the unmissable Reine with her famous mountains. In Reina we will make an excursion in Kayak to have an unforgettable experience of the fjords and the views of the mountains from the water. After spending an other unforgettable day in norwegian paradise, we will return to our lodge to recover our energy and enjoy dinner before heading out again to hunt for the Northern Lights.
Day 4: Today we prepare to do some of the most famous trekking in Lofoten. After 30 minutes drive we will arrive at the parking where we our trekking with snowshoes to one of the most famous beaches of Lofoten, Kvalvika beach begin. With an easy access and stunning views this beach is a must-see when you are visiting Lofoten. This beach became famous because of a film made by surfers who spent a year in a shelter built with materials that brought the sea to the beach. Winner of many awards around the world NORTH OF THE SUN. It is a very interesting film for people who enjoy the love of nature and outdoor sports.
In the evening after dinner, departure in search of the Northern Lights.
Day 5: Today, we await another day of discovery, once we are all ready we will go out to discover the most hidden beaches west of Vestvågøya. We will start with the visit of Haukland, from this place we will make a snowshoe walk to Utakleiv, where again our Van will be waiting for us to continue towards the beach of Unstad. One of the most famous places to surf in the Arctic Circle. Finally we will visit the historic town of Eggum, full of Viking stories and the remains of one of the German radars located further north to detect English planes.
After another day with full of unique experiences we will return for our dinner and get ready again to look for the Northern Lights.
Day 6: After breakfast we will go in search of the ice falls. Depending on the winter conditions we will choose our place to do some ice climbing. To get to these ice falls we usually have to do a snowshoe walk to approach the perfect spot to start with ice climbing. This is a full day of adrenaline surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
After dinner, for those who still have energy we go hunting the Northern Lights.
Day 7: On this day we will go in search of the famous Norwegian cod. Fishing trip through the Lofoten fjords, visit to the Viking museum and then we will make a cheese tasting at the organic farm in Lofoten.
In the evening we will have our farewell dinner where we will enjoy our catch of the day prepared in the style of Lofoten.
After a few unforgettable days we will say goodbye full of good memories and an unforgettable experience in Lofoten.
Day 8: Transfer to Leknes airport or Svolvær.
